About Maggie

Let’s take a trip down memory lane

I was born in Shanghai, China and adopted when I was a baby.

While I don’t consciously remember leaving China for the States (I was only 3 months old!), it’s had an impact on my life.

me, in the orphanage!

Even in elementary school, I always had a desire to grow and achieve.

When I was in second grade, I asked my parents to put me in the more challenging teacher’s class. I even ran for sixth grade president and won!

When I went to college, I had no idea what I wanted to do.

Rather use the time to explore what I liked and disliked, I picked the major that I thought would help land me an internship. While I landed the internship, designing databases wasn’t my calling.

My first job introduced me to new people and places.

I started as an intern at Deloitte before signing full-time. Everything was new and exciting. I got to travel to projects and meet new, interesting people.

Then, I joined Slack in 2018 and went on a wild ride.

I got tired of traveling to Provo, Utah every week and decided I’d try a new role in Marketing at this company called Slack. While the transition was tough, I learned a ton.

A collection of Slack-themed stickers, a colorful sock, and a welcome note on a pink textured surface. The note says, "Welcome to Slack! We’re so glad you’re joining us!" with a "Soon!" message in red at the bottom.

Then, COVID happened, and I questioned my 25 year-old self.

I spent a lot of time with my dog, a lot of time baking, and even more time working. I burned out and questioned my life but figured I just needed a new company.

There are decorative items on a tray, including a blue and white vase, a glass bottle, a jar, and a small plant. A large, woven basket and window are in the background, along with a red fabric hanging overhead.

I moved to NYC, a dream I had forever, but still wasn’t happy.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved living in NYC and was happy I made the jump after many years of saying I wanted to, but three months in after joining a new company, I knew something was wrong. Rather then make a change, I stayed because I thought things would get better on their own.

Finally, I decided I needed to make a bigger change in my career and life.

I worked with a career and lifestyle coach to transform my mindset, understand my strengths, and gain the confidence that I could leave my current situation.

I went from feeling stuck to taking bold action toward my goals…

I wanted to buy a house for years and finally bought one in the Catskills that I rent out on Airbnb. I also started experimenting being my own boss, helping businesses in NYC with their social media.

…which brings me to today.

I quit my job and started working for myself in December 2024. I do a variety of things, but I’m most passionate creating community and memorable experiences that bring people together, whether that be through company events, women’s retreats, or dinners in the city. I’m excited to meet you and learn your story!
